The Role: The Business Intelligence Analyst will be aligned with the Operations business team and be responsible for providing any or all of the following functions: Provide expert advice in the usage and interpretation of data for the assigned business area. Provide decision-support to analysts, managers and executives by creating reports, running queries, and performing advanced analytics such as statistical analysis and data mining. Play a key role in defining analytic metrics which drive the business forward. Design data structures optimized for MicroStrategy-style multi-pass queries. Define business rules and transformations for data coming from source systems into the data warehouse. Identify data quality issues and their root causes. Propose fixes and design data audits to ensure the problem doesnt occur again. Lead small project-teams to deploy new reporting functionality within the enterprise data warehouse.
Successful execution of these tasks includes the following activities: Delivering clear written and oral communication with analyst teams, IT and internal customer teams. Actively question and challenge customers to understand their requirements and reach optimal requirements. Documenting communication of projects and time allocations. Successfully implementing process improvements impacting own work and work of others. Negotiate customer priorities and workload with many internal customers and team members. Interact with cross-functional teams to deliver projects within committed time frames.
Qualifications: The successful candidate must have a minimum of 8 years experience working as an analyst in a data-driven environment and will also have a strong background designing and implementing analytics systems, ideally within the marketing team of a consumer-facing business.
Preferred Qualifications: Excellent SQL skills required. Experience with ETL design and development (Ab Initio required). Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical associates and vice-versa is a must. Energetic, enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and passionate about producing high-quality analytics deliverables. Responsive, team-oriented personal style for effectiveness with internal clients and colleagues. Extensive interaction with computer systems and analytical tools supporting data analysis (MicroStrategy, native SQL).
BA required; degree in mathematics / quantitative area of study preferred.
