Here are the requirement details Actual Job Title: SQL Server DBA Duration: 4 months Locations: Mounds View, MN ONLY LOCAL Candidates Job Duties: Designs database definition, structure, and documentation,Designs long-range database requirements,Designs operational guidelines,Implements and maintains existing databases,Maintains security and integrity controls ,Monitors database systems ,Performs database quality control audits ,Prepares activity, progress, and performance reports ,Provides tuning enhancements ,Recommends database design improvements Position Description: This person will work as part of an Operational SQL Server Database Administration Team supporting a 24 x 7 web-based remote monitoring system. The system is comprised of multiple environments. Skills: • A minimum of 6-8 years experience administering 20+ Microsoft SQL Server 2008 production databases. •Knowledge of Windows Server 2003/2008 Advanced Server. Expert knowledge in the following areas of SQL Server: Clustering, Installation, Log Shipping, Backup/Restore with native and 3rd party tools, Security administration, Ability to identify and solve database errors or performance bottlenecks, SQL Agent. Strong knowledge in the following areas: o Knowledge of T-SQL, stored procedures and DMVs is a must o Very large database (> 1TB) experience o SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services o Analytical and problem solving skills o Transactional replication o Service Broker o Table Partitioning o PowerShell o Interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication, time management, and conflict resolution o Formal change management processes Responsibilities: • Implement and administer SQL Server for high availability; specifically using Windows Clustering and log shipping technologies. • Monitor operational databases for system health including collection and analysis of counters and statistics using various tools. • Troubleshoot production issues and bring them to resolution following established incident/change/problem management procedures and architectural guidelines • Manage database security and integrity controls • Provide tuning enhancements and recommend design improvements • Create and maintain operational documentation • Enforce access guidelines and best practices • Apply SQL Server patches when security vulnerabilities are identified • Create/maintain stored procedures, scheduled jobs, and PowerShell scripts • Administer Service Broker, Transactional Replication and Table Partitioning • Participate in 24x7 production on-call support Shankar Technology consultanst inc |
